OPEN CALL:Platform Dalí’s Open Call for Residencies

Artists of any nationality are invited to apply for Platform Dalí’s inaugural open call for residencies at one of its partner scientific institutions, responding to the theme ‘What is real?’

Platform Dalí launches its first annual Open Call for Residencies as part of its Research and Creation Programme. This inaugural edition for 2027 poses the question ‘What is real?’

The international open call invites artists from all disciplines to develop a research and creation residency project informed by close engagement with one of Platform Dalí’s partner scientific institutions: the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), ICFO – the Institute of Photonic Sciences, the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM-CSIC), the Institute for High Energy Physics (IFAE) and the ecosystem of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), including the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) and European Molecular Biology (EMBL) Barcelona. Five artists will be selected; each will undertake a residency at each partner institution.

Through these partnerships, Platform Dalí fosters meaningful exchanges between artistic and scientific practices, creating a distinctive ecosystem for experimentation, creation and cultural innovation. Central to the residency programme is the recognition of research as a creative practice in its own right. Residents are not expected to arrive with a fully defined artwork; the programme is designed to support an initial phase of open-ended enquiry within a scientific research environment, allowing questions, methods and ideas to emerge through dialogue and experimentation. This research phase subsequently informs the development and production of a new artwork, positioning research and creation as sequential and interconnected stages of the residency.
