According to the curator, the phrase “Sinking World” denotes the sense of a world that has reached a critical dead end. However, this sinking is not a sign of final destruction, but rather an invitation for transformation. It expresses an urgent need for purification and change, utilizing the element of water as its ultimate catalyst.
The exhibition places a particular emphasis on the color blue, as experienced in its purest forms within nature—specifically through the seas and the sky. The participating artists touch upon profound themes such as the mystery of the unknown, the concept of the infinite, and the deep emotions evoked when observing the variance of blue in the natural world.
The choice of Spetses as the venue for this exhibition holds strong symbolic weight. Greece is naturally connected with clear blue skies and beautiful seas, while the island of Spetses stands as a historical landmark of the nautical revolution and the fight for independence.
