OPEN CALL: 2027 Residency and 2026 Haunted Barn applications are live
On Wassaic Project there is ONE Artist Residency Open Call for the entirety of 2027. On our SlideRoom application, you will be able to specify which sessions you’re most interested in joining us for.
Artists-in-residence receive 24-hour individual, semi-private studio spaces on site. Winter artists-in-residence receive a 100 square-foot studio space inside the historic Maxon Mills. Summer artists-in-residence receive 200–300 square foot studios in the historic Luther Barn.
Monthly programming includes open studios, group studio visits with our embedded critics, Ghost of a Dream and one-on-one studio visits and artist talks with 2–3 creative professionals, our Director of Artistic Programming, Will Hutnick and Wassaic Project staff. Artists-in-residence stay in private bedrooms within shared houses, while family artists-in-residence receive a private 4-bed/1-bath home in Wassaic. Artists accepted to the 2027 Residency get access to our newly renovated print and woodshop facilities in the Luther Barn.
The Family Residency is the same structure as the Winter and Summer residency sessions. We broadly define “family” as a group of more than one individual where there is an in-house, and dependent, caregiving relationship. We recognize that artists who have caregiving relationships, as providers or recipients, often opt-out of peer community building for practical reasons, and we aim to provide family accommodations which increase access to our residency program.
We look forward to reading your applications!
