OPEN CALL: Applications for La Becque Principal Residency Program 2027/28
Call for applications–Principal Residency Program (May 2027–March 2028). La Becque Artist Residency, based in Switzerland, announces its upcoming call for applications for its Principal Residency Program, with residencies taking place between May 2027 and March 2028.
The application platform will be open from March 1, 2026 (12:01am CET) until March 15, 2026 (11:59pm CET).
As La Becque’s core initiative, the program offers selected applicants—individual artists, duos, or collectives—fully funded three-month periods dedicated to sustained inquiry and artistic development.
Located on the shores of Lake Geneva in La Tour-de-Peilz, between Vevey and Montreux, La Becque combines a distinctive natural setting with strong international connections. The lakeside property, including its garden and immediate surroundings, forms an integral part of the program’s intellectual and sensorial framework.
La Becque welcomes practitioners from all artistic disciplines and backgrounds. The program is open to artists working in architecture, critical writing, design, film, media arts, music and sound art, performing arts, photography, visual arts, as well as interdisciplinary research practices that move between and beyond established fields. Established practitioners as well as emerging voices with a strong developmental trajectory are encouraged to apply. Curators, critics, and theorists engaged in fields connected to contemporary cultural practices are also invited to submit proposals.
Particular attention is given to projects that critically engage with the entanglements between nature, ecology, and technology. Rather than treating these as separate domains, the program supports practices that examine how they intersect and reshape one another within contemporary artistic and societal contexts.
The residency period is conceived as a time for reflection rather than production-driven output. It aims to foster experimentation, critical thinking, and transformation within an artist’s practice. Participants benefit from dedicated live/work spaces, financial support, and access to an extended network of local and international cultural practitioners and institutions.
Participants will be selected globally by a transdisciplinary jury of experts. This year’s jury includes: Mohamed Almusibli (director, Kunsthalle Basel), François J. Bonnet (director, INA GRM, Paris), Jessica Ekomane (musician & sound artist, Berlin), Stefanie Hessler (director, Swiss Institute, New York), Deborah-Joyce Holman (artist & curator), Nora N. Khan (curator & critic, Los Angeles), Samuel Leuenberger (independent curator; founder, City & Country SALTS, Basel; curator, Art Basel Messeplatz & Art in Public Space), and more to be announced. They will be joined by Anne-Catherine de Perrot (trustee, Fondation Françoise Siegfried-Meier), Vanessa Cimorelli (curator, La Becque), Lucas Erin (artist and head of production, La Becque) and Luc Meier (director, La Becque).
Full details regarding eligibility criteria, the residency calendar, conditions, and the application process are available on La Becque’s website.
Application deadline: March 15, 2026 (11:59pm CET).
