OPEN CALL: Seeking Professor of Drawing at University of the Arts Bremen

The Art and Design Department of the Integrated Design programme at the HfK Bremen is looking to appoint a:
Professor of Drawing (f/m/d)

We are looking for an artistic/creative personality to represent the subject of drawing in the Integrated Design BA/MA degree programmes. In 2000, the HfK Bremen was one of the first universities to introduce the “Integrated Design” study model and has successfully developed it ever since. The range of the programme remains unique in Germany.
The field of work encompasses drawing as a form of expression, representation and conceptual thinking. The HfK Bremen expects applicants to have an outstanding, internationally recognised creative and artistic position within the field of expertise, demonstrated by international activities (publications, exhibitions, scholarships, awards, study trips) and an active international network. The subject area of drawing should be represented as comprehensively as possible in its entire range. The position requires a variety of different drawing types, styles and techniques in teaching. The ability to present one’s own point of view and to reflect critically on drawing and visual design is desirable. In addition, a very high level of teaching ability based on sound teaching experience in the field of drawing is expected. A willingness to initiate and carry out interdisciplinary projects with other fields of study in the design programmes is also required.
At least one year’s teaching experience at a university or comparable institution and a relevant university degree in design, art or architecture are required and must be proven at the time of application. Active participation in the further development of the HfK Bremen, collegial cooperation and participation in academic self-governing bodies are expected (official language: German). The professorship requires presence and continuous work on site at the HfK Bremen. The willingness and ability to teach in German and English are also expected.
In addition, the employment requirements pursuant to Section 116 of the Bremen Civil Service Act apply. The HfK Bremen is seeking to increase the proportion of women in artistic and academic fields and therefore expressly encourages women to apply.
