Musée des Civilisations de l'Europe et de la MéditerranéeThe exhibition “I Love Panoramas”, seeks to demonstrate how the notion of the panorama surpasses typical categories of representation in art. Stemming from scientific and military logic prior to being appropriated by the society of the spectacle, the panoramic experience poses the question of our relationship to the landscape and to the world, mastered or unknown, to mass tourism, and to the consumption of formatted points of view as a source of entertainment. Portrait of Somayyeh.Best known for her iconic photographs of struggle and conflict, Newsha Tavakolian creates opportunities to decipher the human condition with candor and sensitivity. Her exhibition “I know why the rebel sings”, for the first time, integrates Tavakolian’s stirring warzone images and NGO projects with her more formally conceived portraits. It considers her photographic practice as a whole and examines her journalism as an integral component of it. Her ongoing engagement with the human figure has produced intense portraits of intimacy and silence. Guangdong Museum of ArtThe first Asia Biennial/fifth Guangzhou Triennial not only intends to give an impetus to a topical way of thinking about time that comes from the arts, which may lead to a response to the crisis currently unfolding in the face of globalization and capitalism. The historical and current context of Guangzhou will also be involved as a starting point for searching alternative models and multiple perspectives able to better articulate the notion of “Asia Time.” Subsequently, new modes of thinking about Asia could emerge going beyond geographically and historically defined concepts. Institut d'art contemporain Villeurbanne Rhône AlpesThe group exhibition “Tomorrow in the Battle Think on Me” is built in a collage of ideas, artworks and emotions, echoing the novel of the same name by Spanish writer Javier Marías, is not developed around the novel’s plot, but is concerned rather with its construction, most notably in the recurring appearance of the lines, taken from Shakespeare’s “Richard III”, deformed and reassembled to become a ritornello. In a hypersensitive yet contained violence, a tension emerges from the exhibited works, all of them in some form of movement, of renewal, of becoming. Kamel Mennour GalleryShen Yuan’s installations are spectacular and aesthetically pleasant, however, the feeling is delicate, deeply mingle with the triviality of the everyday life. In her words, art means reborn in a new body. “I am trying to show language which lives in the material, the objects, I change something dead into something living, something useless into something useful”. Shen Yuan emphasizes that art should be originated from life. I believe that while her art sought inspiration from her life, her life is also enriched through her art. Her new exhibition entitled “Étoiles Du Jour” in on show at: Kamel Mennour Gallery, 6 rue du Pont de Lodi, Paris, Duration: 11/12/15-23/1/16, Days & Hours: Tue-Sat 11:00-19:00, www.kamelmennour.com
