PHOTO:Obsession Marlene,Pierre Passebon Collector

An exhibition that leads from myth to history is the exhibition at Maison Européenne de la Photographie-Paris, entitled “Obsession Marlene- Pierre Passebon Collector”, it is a tribute with 200 photos shot by several photographers focusing on Marlene Dietrich in her different seasons and periods where her whole life unfolds.

But this is not the important, the most important is that the entire story of portraiture photography unfolds. There the spectator will discover the different trends of B&W photography and different methods of printing, that is a matter of time and technique, as we all know (shooting and processing in the darkroom). The frames, the way that different photographers cut them, but also the different angles of view of each one, are the important elements of this exhibition. In a different way faces Richard Avedon’s lens Marlene, with background, depth of field and frame by frame, strengthening and reinforcing the myth of the great Diva, otherwise Alfred Eisenstaedt that pulls out another of her sides, more male and natural, when she was younger. Irving Penn strips the glamour sheath, and shots her posing in a corner of his studio, minimal, simple and innocence, with a black dress and without any makeup, reveals her human dimension.
