OPEN CALL:From Ecological Transition To Degrowth And The Effective Use Of Art

00Thalie Art Foundation is a private foundation whose mission is to support contemporary creation dedicated to societal themes, thus fostering active and collaborative artistic practices in order to create social ties and to rise awareness. This is also to live and “bring to life” a new approach to contemporary art by being closer to artists and work processes. As an artist’s residency devoted to innovation and engagement in the public sphere, ThalieLab is both an incubator and a platform for the production and dissemination of work that resonates with contemporay social issues.

Based on an examination of artisanal practices and new forms of food production, the foundation invites visual artists, curators, designers and chefs to submit a project on the theme of deceleration in our overly consumerist world, that explores concepts for the collaborative economy (recycling, textiles, 3D creation, food…) and has a social impact.

The two laureates will receive a production grant up to 10,000 euros depending on the project, workspace and residential accommodation at ThalieLab in Brussels. Depending on the nature of the project, the final project will be presented either in the foundation’s exhibition space and/or a public space.

The aim of the residency is to offer a different approach to contemporary art creation, by taking the following criteria into account:

1. To involve a community in the development of the artist’s project
2. To be supported by an institutional partner
3. To offer a diversity in the type of end results generated (film, performance, visual or audio creation, publication, exhibition, workshop,…)

Who is residency for?
1. Visual artists, designers, chefs or curators of all nationalities who speak French and/or English.
2. Minimum age: 30
3. Duration: up to 6 months depending on the project
