PERFORMANCE:Locus-Recollection-Landscape at Circular Funerary in Salamis Island
The second part of the “Locus-Recollection-Landscape” Performance series took place at the 4th C. BC Circular Funerary located at Kolones in Salamis Island, Greece, where after a guidedtour by the archaeologist Evi Mikromastora, Dimitris Vassilakis accomplished the musical circle with a jazz performance celebrating the place and its history.
The ancient monument encloses four tombs and a stone pedestal, on which was placed a graves signal, visible even from the sea. The monument had collapsed, for the most part, due to natural causes: vegetation, weather, seismic activity, etc. In the initial restoration study, the monument would have been partly restored by resetting 43 ancient stones in their original location, but during works it was decided to include all of the 99 fallen stones. The restoration started in April 2013 and ended in December 2015.
The series of the performances will continue with different artists at different historical locations of the Island until October…
