caretto-spagna_zegna-2017UNIDEE – University of Ideas’ (Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto Onlus)  format proposes an educational model based on “other” ways of gaining experience in the meeting of critical theory, activism and artistic practice, not through subordinate relationships but rather through levels of interaction, exchanges and reciprocal interference.

Call for 5 weekly residential modules grants & one production prize worth 3000 EUR in collaboration with illycaffè S.p.A.

Residency period: 26/6-3/7/17, Deadline for submissions: 2/4/17 23:00 CET.

This is an open call for applications to partake in joint grant supported by illycaffè S.p.A. for five weekly residential modules developed by UNIDEE-University of Ideas and Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella (Italy). The five selected participants will take part to a graphic competition for one Production Prize worth 3000 EUR for fund research and production of the project initially submitted in the application form. Applicants must indicate and motivate the residential module of choice amongst the following:

24-28/4/17: Errasmus mundus. The desire of error in revolutionary times, a weekly residential module led by Etcetera (Federico Zukerfeld and Loreto Guzman) with guest Franco “Bifo” Berardi.

8-12/5/17: Proposal for Schizoanalytical Seminar II: Title Forthcoming, a weekly residential module led by Rene Gabri and Ayreen Anastas with guest Carla Bottiglieri

5-9/6/17: Touch, Don’t Dominate, a weekly residential module led by Diego del Pozo with guest Julia Morandeira Arrizabalaga

10-14/7/17: The Revolution of the Gaze. Inside the Visible, to grasp the Invisible, aweekly residential module led by Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio with guest Luigi Fassi

14-21/7/17: The Dance of Attention. What happens as soon as we press “record” on a device, a weekly residential module led by Attila Faravelli with guest Adam Asnan

Call for the selection of 8 full grants participants for Expanded Body. An immersive exploration of the Oasi Zegna, a residential module with the mentorship of Andrea Caretto/Raffaella Spagna in collaboration with Fondazione Zegna.

Residency period: 26/6-3/7/17, Deadline for submissions: 2/4/17 23:00  CET

The module offers an immersing experience across the territory of the Oasi Zegna, a mountain protected area extending for about 100 sq km in Piedmont, in the Biellese Alps, between Trivero and the Cervo Valley. The participants will be involved in the aesthetic experimentation of a radically ecological way of thinking, based on a non-hierarchical ontology in which all the subjects (living and non-living, plants, animals, rocks, artefacts, etc.) existing in that place are put on the same level.

The 8 residency full grants include:

  1. Participation to the residential module Expanded Body. An immersive exploration of the Oasi Zegna mentored by Andrea Caretto / Raffaella Spagna
  2. Full board
  3. Accommodation (single room, shared bathroom facilities—for nine nights)
  4. Medical Insurance (accidents only)
  5. Use of a shared studio space and workshop facilities

All costs for travels and visa are intended at the sole expenses of the selected participants.

Call for two long Research-based Residencies

Residency period: two months long, during spring or fall 2017. Applications are accepted all the time during the current year.

The selected residents through the research-based residency call can take part at UNIDEE-University of Ideas during spring term (May–July 2017) or fall term (September–November), profiting of the unique opportunity to visit the Venice Biennale, or to encounter the art scene in Piedmont region during Artissima art fair. During the residency there will be tailored national and international experts’ visits, networking sessions, institutional visits and travel within Northern Italy (especially Turin, Milan and Venice). The selected Residents will meet and share his/her work with the seasonal international professionals and the weekly residential modules participants and mentors. The Research-based Residency is unfunded. The programme fee for 2017 is set at 6,000 EUR for two months and includes accommodation, residency coordination, attendance to two weekly residential modules, small budget for project production.
