This is the 2nd year that our magazine collaborates as Media Partner with ART PARIS Art Fair. Since it was inaugurated in 1998, ART PARIS has, in become a highlight on the international art calendar, presenting works of major artists from the contemporary art scene such as: Christo, Tony Cragg, Sou Fujimoto, Kurt Schwitters, Wolfgang Tillmans, Victor Vasarely, Lee Ufan e.ct.
The 2017 selection brings together 138 exhibitors from 29 countries, great interest has the Promises Sector that presents 12 young galleries from: Abidjan, Amsterdam, Bogota, Bratislava, Geneva, Lagos, London, Luanda and Rome, that are under six years of existence.
New for 2017 is L’art est vivant Prize in partnership with The Fine Art Collective, which will honour an artist whose work is on presentations at Promises Sector.
This year’s Guest of Honour is Africa, spread across the sections of the Fair, around 20 galleries present 70 emerging artists from both African and its diaspora. The Guest of Honour accompanies a seriesof videos entitled “Les territoires du corps” that will be screened at the Grand Palais. These films explore the work of artists for whom the body is both the subject of their questioning and the means of expression of their art. Also on 31/3/17 at the Colonie, a space created by Kader Attia will host a day of encounters and talks.
To make a broader public familiar with contemporary art, for a month (20/3-20/4/17) the work of five artists selected from amongst this edition’s Solo Shows will on presentation at Le Bus Direct Paris Aéroport, creating a traveling exhibition.
