FIAC (Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain) is a chance to discover the latest developments in Contemporary Art, through works by some of the most famous artists in the world. For its 43rd Edition FIAC the work of 1500 artists is showcased by galleries from 26 countries. The FIAC 2016 will have 3 main sections: “FIAC”, “Hors Les Murs” and the new section “On Site”. In Grand Palais the General Sector compromises of: The Nave that hosts 108 International Galleries, the Salon d’Honneur with 20 galleries internationally acclaimed for their ability to discover and promote ground-breaking artists. The Upper Galleries featuring 38 contemporary and emerging art galleries, the Salon Jean Perrin, inaugurated this year by FIAC and located between the entrance to the Square Jean Perrin and the Salon d’Honneur, brings together 9 galleries presenting solo exhibitions of historical artists from the last quarter of the 20th Century whose work is currently undergoing critical reassessment. Lafayette Sector’s mission is to financially support young international galleries representing the works of emerging artists. This ambitious program thereby offers a strategic visibility to young artists during this key event for the international art market.  The Sector brings together 10 galleries selected for the quality of their prospective programming and on the basis of a specific project for FIAC presenting one or two artists. The latter will also host 10 galleries comprising the Lafayette Sector for presenting emerging artists. “On Site”, the recently announced new sector of FIAC, exhibit around 20 works in the Galerie Sud, the Pavillon Sud, the suspended garden of the Petit Palais, and the surrounding colonnade and esplanade in front of the museum. “On Site” enables FIAC galleries to showcase important works in museum conditions in close proximity to their stands at the Grand Palais. FIAC 2016 will also present an ensemble of outdoor works in the Tuileries Garden. As an extension of the exhibition of outdoor works in the Tuileries Garden, the Musée Eugène Delacroix opens its doors to FIAC visitors, in association with the Musée du Louvre. The Museum, is an unexpected haven of peace, niched between courtyard and garden. Originally the artist’s apartment and studio, it was transformed into a museum by the painter Maurice Denis and some major painters from the ’20s. It is therefore a venue that is dedicated to artistic creation. Ugo Rondinone presents a series of seven majestic sculptures in aluminium on the Place Vendôme, the artist alludes to the olive trees that often grow in the region of Campania in Italy, where his family is from. Like “time capsules”, he paints over them in white to give the illusion of ghostly trees: “The ghosts of the passage of time”. The Fair’s program of artist’s films, in association is held in the Cinéphemère installed in the Tuileries Gardens. Additionally, around 20 artist performances take place at different venues throughout the fair.
