BOOK:Out of Body, Skulptur Projekte Münster

Out of BodySkulptur Projekte Münster  is an exhibition of sculptures in public places in the town of Münster. Held every ten years since 1977, the exhibition presents works in different places all over the town, thereby confronting art with public places. “Out of Body” is the first in a series of three publications written in German that will be released during the period running up to Skulptur Projekte 2017. The first issue is available as a supplement in frieze d/e in selected bookshops and newsagents until 10/6/16.  “Out of Body”, addresses questions relating to the body in this age of new economies and increasing digitalisation. How has the role of the body changed over the last few decades and how are these developments reflected in contemporary art? The series will be continued with two further issues: Out of Time”, to be published in autumn 2016, and “Out of Place”, to be published in spring 2017. These publications will each explore a different basic parameter concerning how sculpture and projects in public space are experienced, body, time and place. Edited by John Beeson and Britta Peters for Skulptur Projekte, the magazines will incorporate not only essays and texts by international authors but also topics generated by events organised in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts Münster.-Efi Michalarou
