MIRAGES XXIV

Mirages XXIV1st May in the minds of all of us, is intertwined with the Workers’ Struggle, the Revolt for the defense of the Labour Rights and simultaneously with the Spring. It is full of smells, colors and aromas that sometimes we are in contact with them through the reality and other times through our childhood memories. I was delighted with two gardens this month: The one of Yayoi Kusama, an installation of aluminum in the Philip Johnson’s Glass House and the one of Choi Jeong Hwa in Kiasma. Two Images diametrically opposed, one minimal and rigorous and the other pop, colorful and joyful. Looking at them carefully, these really difficult days of great and radical decisions, which were full of important appointments and work, that will take shape soon, I realized that these are two sides of me: the inner and the outer, the one that looks like and the one that is, the essence, the center, the core and the housing. A colorful cover wraps an internal part deep and minimalist, that does not want and does not have to be revealed… Exactly as the futuristic Garden of Yayoi Kusama makes us dream that our world has changed through technology and knowledge and communication and relationships is like the press of a button, on the other hand Choi Jeong Hwa’s reality recalls that everything is good but: Scripta Manent.
