VIDEO: 5 Artists on Making Sculptures

5 Artists on Making Sculptures“All sculpture that I’m interested in knows that death is the inevitable conclusion.” Award-winning artist Antony Gormley sees art as the expression and generation of hope. Hear how he and four other artists work with sculpture. One of the oldest artistic traditions, sculpture has been defined for centuries as the medium that operates in three dimensions. In this anthology, five very different sculptors shed light on their work. See American sculptor Richard Serra’s minimal incisions into nature, British artist Phyllida Barlow’s large-scale installations and British Turner Prize winner Antony Gormley who states that all the sculpture that he is interested in “knows that death is the inevitable conclusion.” Also featured in this video are American artists Doug Aitken and Sarah Sze.
