Dimitri Yin (Phoenix Athens), Waiting for the flood, Courtesy the artistBack to Athens International Art Festival emerged at the beginning of the crisis in 2012, providing vital insight on the issues and concerns of the art community, while leaving conclusions to rest on interpretation. Back to Athens 2022 International Art Festival entitled “no apocalypse now, a review” proposes a return to an allegorical interpretation of Athens (Part I).

The proposals and thoughts of no apocalypse now, a review”, spread across 19 curatorial exhibitions and installations by 120 artists and curators with the aim of providing a comprehensive documentation of the artistic ideas and views. Back to Athens is an annual review, an outlook on the recent trends and projects collected from the past year. “No Humans Allowed” is an exhibition ensemble aimed at supporting and promoting young curators and artists from Greece, Germany and Austria. Different yet identical views are reflected on critical issues, as are the conclusions and solutions of a new generation that has found itself in the arena of arts, in the vortex of the last decade. With older and new works, 23 artists participate in the exhibition “‘No Man’s Land/Dreamland’’, aiming to create a dialogue: between them and Isaiah Mansion, redefining and repositioning the meaning of: space, borders, displacement and the extensions that they have and how they affect us, on the occasion of the War in Ukraine and the danger that arises of the  balance changing. That is why a diptych is created that is a point of reference in the relationship between artists and works, from a Topos-Atopos of “No Man’s Land”, to a Ideal Place such as “Dreamland”.

Participating Curators: Souzana Fais, Ariadne Tzika, Two Thirds PS, Christian Rupp, Xenia Kalpaktsoglou, Filippos Tsitsopoulos, Efi Michalarou, Amphicar Studio, Marilia Kolibiri, Niki Papaspirou, Stratis Pantazis, Nina Kotamanidou, Georg Georgakopoulos, Eva Kekou, Karin Maria Pfeifer, Flat 1 Vienna, widmertheodoridis, WT, Giorgos Ikaros Babasakis, Myrtia Nikolakopoulou, Stratis Pantazis, Odette Kouzou, Kyvèli Zoi, KYAN, Johannes Rips.
