MIRAGES LXII

June is full of art evens, since the 59th Biennale 2022 continues, Manifesta 14 is preparing to open its gates in Pristina, but in the spotlight is Basel that hosts the most important and remarkable Art Fairs for Contemporary Art.

At one hand is the Art Basel in which participate older and most recognized galleries, but the most important art-event in our opinion is LISTE Art Fair, because its focus is to introduce new galleries that represent young, emerging artists to an established art scene.  The intentionally low number of galleries and the strict selection policy of the jury (composed of museum professionals) contribute to a feeling of vitality and dynamism at the Fair.

For our magazine is a great honor to be Online Media Partners on a Regular basis with LISTE Art Fair.

At Liste Art Fair Basel 2022 participate 82 galleries from 37 countries with works by over 111 artists. As of this year, Liste belongs to the Stiftung zur Förderung aktueller Kunst Basel (Foundation for the Promotion of Contemporary Art Basel). This ensures that the Liste, as a non-profit organisation, can continue its commitment and dedication to contemporary art. Helvetia Art Prize, which supports young artists at the beginning of their profes-sional careers. In a variety of media and with formal precision, Anita Mucolli, a graduate of the School of Art and Design FHNW in Basel, deals with the question of how late capitalist systems try to penetrate the biology of humankind and our needs. In her most recent work, “The Bank Of Dreams” (2021), she deals with a future scenario in which capitalism makes the progress of technology its own, penetrates people’s subconscious and commercialises sleep and dreams.

Liste Showtime Online is aimed at both visitors to Liste Art Fair Basel and those who cannot travel to Basel. The 82 galleries participating in the physical fair will each present one artist from their fair presentation. Among other things, there will be works to discover that are not exhibited in Basel.

Liste Expedition Online is a year-round research forum and continuously growing index of artists who have exhibited at Liste Art Fair Basel and Liste Showtime.

Liste Expedition Online was launched in December 2021 as a non-commercial, digi-tal research forum that brings together the world’s newest and most important artistic positions. The forum’s artist index grows continuously year after year and is publicly accessible throughout the year together with curated programmes.

Finally, do not forget the artists and the architects whose names are interwoven with this month, in the column “Traces”, the artists: Richard Long, Donald Judd, Jesús Rafael Soto, Jim Dine, Juan Muñoz, Lee Ufan and Sylvie Fleuryand the architects: Toyo Ito, Kevin Roche, Richard J. Gluckman, Elizabeth Diller and Alejandro Aravena.
