The Platforms Project 2020-21 will be presented at the “Nikos Kessanlis” exhibition space at the School of Fine Arts (256 Piraeus Street, 182 35, Agios Ioannis Rentis), with a rich and multifaceted program of speeches, videos and performances by the participating groups. A breeding ground for young artists par excellence, where experimentation, research and the shaping of artistic identity are continuously requested, the exhibition space at the School of Fine Arts is the ideal choice for the Platforms Project, which aims to present the independent art scene via artists’ group initiatives. For the ninth consecutive year, the international exhibition Platforms Project has as its goal the shared search for solutions to contemporary questions of art and the indicative mapping of artistic activity as it is produced today in the framework of group initiatives of young artists in the international art environment. Following the successful launch of the Platforms Project – Independent Art Fair 2019 which featured 60 platforms from 18 countries and enabled 19,000 spectators to have contact with the independent scene and the art groups, Platforms Project 2021 will once again exhibit live and in-person, uniting the voices of the independent art scene. The Platforms Project 2020-21 will feature 54 platforms from 24 countries with more than 800 artists, creating a global network. The aim of the Platforms Project is to be at the core of creating and recording the pioneering trends in art and the development of relationships between the platforms. Thus, during its six years of operation, the Platforms Project has created a global network of independent artistic groups and spaces in direct communication with each other. During the exhibition of the Platforms Project 2020-21, a parallel program of speeches, performances and workshops will take place. The Platforms Project is not an impersonal event but an artistic community full of energy and freshness, giving time and space to an alternative art that could not be expressed anywhere else. A key parallel program in the context of the Platforms Project NET is OPEN STUDIOS, where teaching studios of the Athens School of Fine Arts present the students’ actions and works. For Platforms Project ΝΕΤ 2021, the participants are the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th Studios of Painting, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd Studios of Sculpture, the Videoart Studio, the Master in Fine Arts (MFA) and MA in Digital Arts of ASFA. The projects “Μ.Ι.R.O (Mirroring Identities -Raw Oddities) mind mapping by miro app”, a collaboral game of words and images – and “The Drawing Box A5” (Curated and organized by kleopatra Moursela, Exhibition dates: 18 – 28 October 2021) – an exhibition of A5 size drawings with 80 artists from all over the world and students of the two laboratories, will be presented in the space of 5th and 11th Studios of Painting of ASFA.
