The good news and the most important fact of this month, is that that the Galleries and the Museums in some countries of Europe and Asia opened their gates again and every week little by little open more. Also, the art season is extended until August 15.
Starting in April Video Art Miden has turned its 13th Festival edition, scheduled to be held in Kalamata, into a monthly online meeting, presenting different selections of video art each month and you will follow it closely through our magazine and Video Art Miden’s youtube channel. In June are presented 3 new video art programs with 22 selected works by well-known and emerging artists from 14 countries. Also Video Art Miden has been invited to present the video art section “ARTificial Intelligence” at the Jönköpings läns museum in Sweden, from May 30 to August 23, 2020. The selection, curated by Gioula Papadopoulou, presents 8 works that deal with various concepts concerning the “homo digitalis” era and artificial intelligence, exploring the physical detachment and the gradual digitalization and virtualization of our world, our societies and our minds. Video Art Miden is trying not only to transfer its initial festival edition into an online form but to approach audience and artists by rethinking the new digital conditions. Steriani Tsintziloni & Margarita Stavraki co-curated a series of interviews, providing a chance to the audience to comprehend and enjoy differently the festival’s video material. Finally, these interviews offer another framing and create an opportunity for the artists and the artworld to reflect at this new epoch.The interviews are available at Video Art Miden’s website
You will watch a wonderful tribute to water through the videos, that we have adopted recently, where artists like: : Marina Abramović, Kunlé Adeyemi, Elina Brotherus, Olafur Eliasson, Klara Hobza, Roni Horn, Superflex and Bill Viola talk about their relationship with it.
