FAQ NET:Part II

Sibylle Feucht & Harris Kondosphyris

FAQ NET: It is the name of the new column that we start as Media Partners on a regular basis of Platforms Project-Independent Art Fair, asking a common question to participating artists – representatives of artistic groups and collectives, resulting from the needs of conteporary reality and the changes that have already occurred after the Covid 19 Pandemic and the Global Lockdown; with Platforms Project-Independent Art Fair to pioneer in the European Art Fair space and to transfer the entire fair online at Platforms Project Net 2020 (14-31/5/2020).

How do you feel participating in an online Art Fair like Platforms Project 2020? A new experience that emerged through the needs of Covid 19 World Pandemic fighting. What are the new challenges and what do you expect from this participation?

Sibylle Feucht (DAS ESSZIMMER–space for art+): From the point of view of Platforms Project it is important and therefore understandable that there is a need for an online presence due to the impossible real physical presence due to the current situation in order to not get forgotten, maintain the spirit etc. From my personal point of view as an artist and as the founder of DAS ESSZIMMER – space for art+ it is not possible (yet) to create anything that comes close to what I experienced in the past editions of Platforms Project just through an online presence. The physical presence of the works, the arrangements, the presence of the artists, curators as well as the interested crowed all together create a vibrant and exciting atmosphere of conversations and general exchange as well as developments of future joint-projects that will not happen in just meeting online. Therefore the online presence is for me something like an appetizer for next year, but will no replace the “real” thing of meeting each other face to face.

Harris Kondosphyris (EN FLO visual artists group): In the era of the pandemic, art is a mole. Art is opening up in online tunnels and demonstrates the nest of the artwork, the studio. This interesting introspection as a phenomenological feature of artistic life involves forms of intentional activity. The emotions and personal introduction that plague the artists function as an anthropological and sociological phenomenon associated with imposed inaction and a strong desire for function and extroverted satisfaction. In the era of pandemic, are rusung up the Symplegades of group identities like: the infected, the asymptomatic, the dead, the  intubated, the abandoned, where they are entrenched in non-conscious and hygienically homogeneous environments. The  artists’ individual identities are in fundamental instability and perspective. The online landscapes can engage artistic endeavors by simplifying them to available information, constructing recognizable, social, human, standing, experiential, worlds. These  manifests have a cultural dimension of meaning and in the worst case an updated fragility on the habit of social life. The online Art Fair Platforms 2020 is not a monographic place but a global reflexive action now.
