MIRAGES XLIV

Kaskadenkondenstator, Meeting PUNCH, 2016, LISTE Art Fair Archiveg June of 2018 is full of art evens, since the 16th Venice Biennal Architecture continues, Manifesta 12 is preparing to open its gates at June 16, in Palermo, but in the spotlight is Basel that hosts the most important and remarkable Art Fairs for Contemporary Art.

At one hand is the Art Basel in which participate older and most recognized galleries, but the most important art-event in our opinion is LISTE Art Fair, because for 23 years its focus is to introduce new galleries that represent young, emerging artists to an established art scene.  The intentionally low number of galleries and the strict selection policy of the jury (composed of museum professionals) contribute to a feeling of vitality and dynamism at the Fair.

For our magazine is a great honor to be Online Media Partners on a Regular basis with LISTE Art Fair.

At LISTE Art Fair 2018 participate 79 galleries with works by over 170 artists. LISTE’s 14th Performance Project is placing its focus on internationally relevant positions who share an interest in pushing the limits between the areas of performance, sound, music and musical theater; positions who have adopted formats from the realm of music in order to undermine them and expose the affective spheres of our perception and their political potential.

The Helvetia Art Prize is awarded to a graduate of a Swiss college or university majoring visual and media art. The 15th Helvetia Art Prize, which includes a monetary award of CHF 15,000 and a solo presentation at LISTE, goes to Gina Proenza, who received her bacherlor’s degree in “Arts Visuals” from the Haute Ecole d’Art de Lausanne.

LISTE Art Fair is facing a change in generations, Peter Bläuer, LISTE’s co-founder and director since the fair’s founding in 1996 and today’s owner of the LISTE, is retiring from operational management after 23 years and will hand the fair over to a non-profit foundation, a call for a new director has been posted.
