Athens Gallery Weekend 2014

For 2nd successive year the Hellenic Art Galleries Association in collaboration with the organizing team of Art-Athina, organizes a cultural weekend dedicated to galleries in Athens and Thessaloniki entitled Gallery Weekend 2014. The purpose of the event, which is organized in Greece for the 2nd time, unlike abroad (that is a multiannual and successful institution), is not only to enhance and το promote the contemporary art, at all levels, is also and the communication with a wider public, the education and the understanding.

Is an art celebration, which offers us the opportunity to tour the Art Galleries of Athens and Thessaloniki, to see new exhibitions, to revisit some important ones, to meet artists and gallerists to talk with them, to guide us around, and why not, as well as abroad, this very fine, important and beneficial institution to be repeated one and twice a year, thus opening a dialog with the city and its citizens. Only in this way, we will overcome any crisis, because culture, art and education helps us to see the world through a broader perspective, through other dimensions, especially to face any difficulty in life with optimism, courage and above all knowledge. For that reason, not only the Gallery Weekend, and Art Athina, but also every serious institution, are a step for cultural development.
