ART-PRESENTATION:The “Bazaars” of Aliki Palaska
Entitled “Bazaar” the new group of artworks presented by Aliki Palaska seeks to reconstruct the concept of negotiation where haggle values, standards and registrations. In addition, whatever is the consequence, in this game, in the history, in the culture and the culture of the people especially of the Eastern Mediterranean and the East, where the bazaars act as a sociopolitical definition, but also as a process, that feeds an entire economic system. Her references are from the world of underground culture and the rock philosophy, aiming to overthrow the prevailing atmosphere. Covers this world with the space of imaginary, selecting peculiar narrations that undercut the topicality and the idols of Western civilization. Her identity is multilateral and mutates in a variety of expressions. Dominant role in her work has the replica in form of a reseller. The references of the artist, which belongs in the new generation of artists who from 2000 compose the contemporary Greek art scene, which emerged alongside the Young British Artists. Her pictures are generated from the process of tearing, from the decomposition and recomposition but mainly from the degradation and the semantics that carry these objects with the seal of the preciousness and multiculturalism, until they restructured into new sculptures with contemporary visual references. Sculptural compositions with materials of a petty bourgeois aesthetics of cheap bibelots and copies with markers on wallpaper fabrics, mentioning a dark iconography, through the artistic language of Aliki Palaska transform into works of art.
