ART-PRESENTATIOΝ: Melencolia

DSC_1632The white marble body becomes the memory background. As the artist, Panos Koulouras states, “The marble reflects the sense of monumentality, when a picture depicted on it, then is defined as memory”. In his solo exhibition “Melencolia” at the Gallery Eleftheria Tseliou, focuses in melancholy not only resulting from the experience of depression, but in the artistic and creative melancholy that one experiences in times of transition and refolding. His work is an artistic juxtaposition to the concept of the management of information, as often is expressed by the modern culture of the mass media. It consists of an installation of marble fragments that on their surface are engraved impressions of memories, quotes photographic material and a series of paintings that focus on the folds of the marble, and watercolors dealing with the calendar recording of the creative process from the artist.
